What does the 'Quick Start' do?
When a 'Quick Start' is performed, it conducts an auto-tune followed by a single-point measurement operation. The single-point measurement is either a single-point calibration or a re-center of a saved calibration.
Auto-tune:
AdHawk’s eye tracking system is capable of panning and zooming the scan pattern in order to accommodate for the eye position of each user. The Auto-Tune function automatically detects the optimal scan region and optimizes the algorithm parameters for an individual by performing an initial scan of their eye.
One-Point Calibration or Re-Center:
Quick-start is designed to get the user tracking as quickly as possible. A quick start always begins with an auto-tune. The next step is either a re-center operation or a one point calibration.
A re-center is performed only if a user profile has a saved calibration. A one point calibration is automatically taken after the auto-tune in the event a saved calibration is not associated with the profile. The accuracy of a one-point calibration is expected to be limited. Therefore, we recommend at least a 5 point calibration which can then be saved in order for a re-center to be available in subsequent quick-starts.
If a saved calibration is available in the profile then the quick start will load the calibration and zero any errors or gaze offsets during quick-start. The saved calibration may be deleted by clicking the ‘X' next to the calibration ID key in the user’s profile. Saving a new calibration will replace any existing calibration for the selected profile.
When do I need to do a 'Quick Start'?
A ‘Quick Start' should be done at the beginning of every eye tracking session after selecting or creating the user’s profile. The recommended workflow to achieve best performance is to start with a 'Quick Start' > 9-point Calibration. It is important to perform a 'Quick Start' because it will indicates if there are any underlying issues that can ultimately affect a user's eye tracking performance. For example, it indicates that the auto-tune has failed, then a user most likely does not have the right nose piece.

How to perform a 'Quick Start'
1. On Hub, navigate to the 'Track' tab from the top right corner.
2. Locate the 'Quick Start' button on the top left side of the 'Track' tab.
3. It will open a new window and as mentioned above, will do an auto-tune and a one-point calibration all-in-one. The whole process will take ~3 seconds. While looking at the center of the marker, slowly rotate your head in the direction suggested by the arrow on the screen until the box is aligned with the marker as seen below.
4. Keep staring at the center of the marker and it will automatically close the window once complete and navigate back to the 'Track' screen with the red gaze marker.
